Crossword

by David

This post was supposed to have run yesterday, December 21, but I wasn't able to post it.

94 years ago today (Dec. 21), in 1913, Arthur Wynne published the first crossword puzzle, called the Word-Cross puzzle, in the New York World.

In remembrance of Mr. Wynne, and to get us into the Chistmas Spirit, I thought I'd give you all a Christmas themed crossword puzzle. The words are all in Spanish, with no accent marks. So enjoy this crucigrama navideño.

This is a great idea and would make a great homework assignment for a teacher wanting to give her students an assignment to complete during the Christmas break. (Cue wicked/malicious laughter here.) 🙂

I had my students complete an online scavenger hunt re: Christmas in Spanish-speaking countries. I see this as having a similar feel, and would be a great exercise for advanced Spanish classes.

W/R/T/ the post re: hw: I see nothing objectionable re: assigning Spanish hw during an extended vacation. I did so myself, as a matter of fact.
