Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October and is a time for giving thanks for a successful harvest.

Día Mundial del Correo

I don’t know much about this, but apparently it’s celebrated in a bunch of countries.

Leif Erikson Day

Leif Erikson Day is a celebration of the first European landing on the American continent.

Che Guevara’s death

Socialist Che Guevara was executed for trying to incite a revolution in Bolivia.

Independence of Guayaquil

Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil proclaimed independence from Spain.

You don’t need an apostrophe in your subject line for the blog today.
“Lots to celebrate today” is grammatically correct.

This is just a short comment , since we all have our foibles. I know I have several! Using an apostrophe to indicate a plural seems to be a rather common error now. A particularly good article about apostrophe usage, which you may enjoy reading, may be found at .

You’re right. Thanks for pointing that out.

It sounds like you were posting a site for me to look at, but somehow it got munched. Could you post it again?

    Hi Cole,

As far as I know, pote means pot, jug, jar, vase, flowerpot, vessel, can etc. You might try the forums too, if you want more responses.

I don’t know where the URL went in my message above about apostrophes. It is

My thanks to Tomisimo for making the correction so quickly.

    Hi Chrissy,

You’ve got a good goal to learn some Spanish so you can write to your friend. But it really depends on how bad you want to learn Spanish. Your best bet might be to learn just a few words, and use them among English. Because if you’re not prepared to really give what it takes to learn a language, it’ll end up being not very fruitful.

Tell us a few words you’d like to be able to say in Spanish I’ll help you out. :)
